AR15 Raw Lower Receiver [80%] Overview
The AR15 Lower Receiver [80%] is an unfinished receiver blank that provides the foundation for your DIY rifle or pistol build. Machined from raw aluminum to mil-spec standards, this 80% lower has been precision-machined to the point where it’s not yet a firearm under federal law. The fire control pocket remains unmilled and the pin holes undrilled, leaving the final steps for you to complete at home.
Once finished, this AR15 Lower Receiver [80%] is identical in form and function to any stripped lower you’d buy from a gun store. It accepts standard mil-spec lower parts kits, buffer assemblies, triggers, grips, and any appropriately chambered upper receiver. Build a 5.56/.223 rifle, a .300 Blackout pistol, a 6.5 Grendel hunter: the platform is yours to configure.
Raw aluminum finish ships ready for you to apply your own coating after machining, or leave it natural. No FFL required. Ships direct to your door in most states.
What Makes the AR15 Raw Lower Receiver [80%] Different
Mil-Spec Dimensions
This AR15 Lower Receiver [80%] is machined to military specification tolerances. That means guaranteed compatibility with standard AR-15 parts: any mil-spec lower parts kit, any buffer tube assembly, any upper receiver. No fitting, no filing, no surprises. Once you complete the machining, your lower functions exactly like a factory receiver.
Quality Aluminum Construction
Constructed from high-quality aluminum, this 80% lower offers the ideal balance of lightweight portability and exceptional durability. The forging process compresses the aluminum grain structure, resulting in superior strength compared to cast alternatives. This is a receiver built to last.
Raw Finish for Custom Coating
The AR15 Lower Receiver [80%] ships in raw aluminum finish, tumbled and deburred for a clean starting point. After you complete the machining, apply Cerakote, Duracoat, anodizing, or any coating you prefer. Match your upper, create a custom color scheme, or leave it raw: the choice is yours.
Not a Firearm
Under federal law, an 80% lower is not classified as a firearm because the fire control pocket has not been milled and the selector/trigger pin holes have not been drilled. That means no FFL transfer, no serial number requirement (federally), and no paperwork. You complete the final machining steps at home using an 80% jig and standard tooling.

Billet raw lower machined beautifully. Deeper cuts were easy compared to some cheaper ones I’ve tried. Paired it with a polymer upper for a lightweight build – zero issues after 500 rounds. Customer service was responsive too.

Good price on this raw 80%. Fit and finish on the raw piece is clean. Buffer tube threads were spot-on. Only minor complaint is the rear takedown area needed slight deburring. Overall a solid starter for a home build.

Solid 7075 forged 80% lower. Anodizing looks good and it feels beefy. Finished it without issues, but the trigger pocket needed a bit more cleanup with a file. Still runs flawlessly with my BCM upper. Would buy again.

Perfect raw billet lower. Clean casting with no major imperfections. Milled out great with my Easy Jig on a drill press. Took about 2 hours total and everything fits mil-spec parts perfectly. Great value for a no-serial build!
